SHVETSOV ASH-62 MOTOR

Produced in Soviet Union by Shvetsov Company, the 9-cylinder air- cooled radial engine is developed by Wright R-1820 cyclone type built from M25. The power of the engine, which has a more efficient induction system than M25, was boosted from 775 HP to 1000 HP.

The first prototype flew on 31st of August 1947. A Shvetsov ASh-21 radial engine called as SKh-1 was used on this flight. Then the Shvetsov ASh-62 engine was used for increasing the payload capacity of the aircraft significantly. It was used in the aircrafts such as Antonov An-2, Polikarpov I-153, Polikarpov I-16 and Lisunov Li-2.

Shvetsov ASh-62 engine was brought to M.S.Ö. Air & Space Museum in March 2020 by Ali İsmet ÖZTÜRK.
